The Amuma Mothers’ Journey
In a small community in Cebu City, Philippines, eight determined mothers are proving that lasting change begins when women come together with vision, discipline, and hope.
The Amuma Mother’s Group, comprised of 25 mothers, began as a simple savings and loan group. Through consistent commitment and mutual accountability, these women have already saved $1,724 of their own money—funds they use to provide small loans to one another in times of need. Eight of these women are ready to take the next bold step: launching a sustainable micro-enterprise that can provide ongoing income for their families.
The Business: Amuma Rice & Corn Dealer
The Amuma Mothers plan to start a rice and corn trading business, supplying a daily staple to their own members, Barangay Sambag Dos staff and employees, and local residents in their community. Rice and corn are essential goods with steady demand, making this enterprise both practical and sustainable.
Their group has been officially recognized by the local government and the Barangay Captain, affirming their credibility, unity, and commitment to responsible enterprise.
A Partnership Model That Works
The total start-up capital needed is $905. Demonstrating remarkable ownership and sacrifice, the mothers will contribute $345 from their own savings. They are requesting a loan of $560, to be repaid over one year at 1.5% monthly interest.
This is not charity—it is empowerment.
Through Hope Eternal Asia in partnership with Divine Business Appointments, the women will receive:
Business training grounded in sound principles
Access to capital through a structured loan
Ongoing coaching for the first year
Biblical values integrated into their personal lives and business practices the goal is not only a successful business, but transformed lives—marked by stewardship, integrity, and faith.
