For more than 30 years, whenever she has been between contracts, she has faithfully served on the worship team of one of our churches in Cebu—playing keyboards and investing her time in training younger musicians. Rebecca is resourceful, loves the Lord, deeply relational, and a joy to be around. We have personally known her since 1991.
Rebecca’s long-term plan was to move to the United States to be near her daughter and grandchildren. However, while processing her immigration documents, it was discovered that one critical record was missing due to an administrative error made while she was working in Singapore many years ago. Unfortunately, this has prevented her from being reunited with her family at this time.
With opportunities for band work in the Philippines being limited, Rebecca has returned to what she does best: performing on cruise liners. She has already been hired to join a band aboard a Viking cruise ship.
She is requesting a loan of $862 to cover her immediate needs, including expenses while in Manila, airfare, board and lodging, costumes, and other preparation costs. Once she begins her contract, she will be able to repay the loan within approximately six months.
As noted, this is not a case of helping someone rise out of poverty but rather providing a “hand up” instead of a “hand out”—helping Rebecca regain stable footing so she can once again provide for herself through her profession.
Because this is a larger amount, if you are able to help with only a portion, we can also consider multiple sponsors for this need. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
